It’s been three decades since Giancarlo Esposito and Rosie Perez met on the set of ‘Do the Right Thing.’ Now, the BetterCallSaul and TheFlightAttendant stars reunite to reflect on their groundbreaking work since, the lessons they’ve learned, and more:

. And now they’re back together again, right here, kicking off Awards Insider’s Reunited series.Spike called me and said, "Hi, I got this girl, name is Rosie Perez. She's got everything. She can dance. She can move. She can act." He really hyped Rosie up quite a bit, and he was completely correct. It was so long ago, but it feels like yesterday in so many ways. Rosie brings a fierceness to what she does, but still allows us to see her heart.

Obviously, there was a lot of controversy around the film when it first came out. There were warnings in the media, which Spike Lee has described as plainly racist, that audiences would see it and start rioting. Did you have any anxiety in the leadup to the release?Well, Spike, I remember saying to me, “Giancarlo, there's going to be a riot. That's what they're saying.” And he was really sensitive to that, because he didn't want that to happen.

Fair enough. How about you, Giancarlo. Is there a chaotic Buggin’ Out inside Gus, or is Gus all control? He's all control. Playing Gus, I started to use my yoga practice as a way to drop myself down and breathe and be more observant of everyone. I just was observing and drinking people in, in a way that allowed me to look as if I was calculating and manipulating. I think some characters I've played are reactors and Gus is not.
