'It just seems too similar...'
Summary Ghosts showrunner Joe Port addresses whether the sitcom could ever have a crossover with the original BBC series that inspired it, as well as his hesitations about bringing the two casts together. The original series saw a young couple inherit a stately, decrepit home from a recently deceased relative, only for Allison to see long-past residents of the land after a near-death experience, leading to plenty of hijinks.
“At some point, we’d like to have them all on, eventually. But as far as as Alison and Mike, that sort of doesn’t compute for us because it feels kind of strange… It just seems too similar, or something, to Sam and Jay. Like, they live in a house where there’s also a pants-less ghost and a guy with an arrow through his neck….”
Not only is Baynton's appearance a fun nod to the original series, but has a fun twist inspired by one of his character's arcs Related Ghosts: 10 Things The CBS Show Can Learn From The BBC Original CBS's version of Ghosts has just begun and while it has been solid, it could learn a lot from looking at the original BBC iteration.
