“FIFA is not involved in the immigration processes of host countries, including the adjudication of visas. As with previous FIFA events, the host government ultimately determines who receives a visa and is admitted into the country. ” While the Canadian government has not publicly detailed the reasons behind the visa denial, reports indicate that the decision was tied to Canada’s immigration policies.
As a result, FIFA has no authority to overturn Canada’s ruling or grant an exemption allowing Partey to participate in the Toronto match.
