Getty is embracing the future with generative AI. Getty Images announced the launch of a new generative AI tool called “Generative AI by Getty Images,” allowing customers to create and download AI-generated images for commercial use.

. It is trained solely on Getty's image library, providing full licensing rights, and indemnification for commercial applications. Getty's new Generative AI tool combines its owned creative assets with advanced AI for customers seeking original images with ironclad rights. By harnessing AI responsibly, Getty aims to empower commercial visual content creation while respecting creator rights. Creators who contributed content used to train the AI model will receive compensation from Getty, just as they would if a client licensed their image.
“We’ve created a service that allows brands and marketers to safely embrace AI and stretch their creative possibilities, while compensating creators for inclusion of their visuals in the underlying training sets,” said Grant Farhall, Chief Product Officer at Getty Images, in a statement.
