Josh Warrington is preparing to face Leigh Wood for the WBA featherweight world title and has been speaking to Leeds United captain Liam Cooper
Josh Warrington is hoping to channel the spirit of Leeds United as he bids to become a three-time world champion against Leigh Wood this weekend.
However, Warrington is ready to dust himself down and claim Wood’s WBA world title on Saturday night. The featherweight takes pride in how passionate his fans are about his fights and has compared it to how the city feels about Leeds United. "Our song sums it up, ups and downs, we’ve been through it all together,” Cooper told Warrington. “Getting promoted was probably one of the best days of my life; getting relegated was the worst day of my life and that’s what sport does to you.
As for Warrington, he is convinced that he will defeat Leigh Wood, despite the Nottinghamshire fighter earning some impressive wins on his way to a world title. There have been suggestions that the winner could face IBF super-featherweight champion Joe Cordina to become a two-weight champion and the ‘Leeds Warrior’ believes his story is far from over.
