“When you get the tree home, you need to make a nice, fresh cut. Cut about quarter of an inch off the butt of your tree. You got a little cambium layer at the base of the tree, It draws the water up,” Wadsworth said. “That sap seals that bottom of that tree, it will quit drinking water.”
