A series of four special event is taking place between May 13-16 to mark the milestone for the activity programme which has so far had nearly 76,000 participants

A popular walking group is marking its milestone 10th birthday with a series of special anniversary walks.

Nearly 76,000 walkers have taken part in more than 7000 of the weekly strolls thanks to the help of 90 dedicated walk leaders – six of whom are still leading from the front having been involved for the whole decade-long history of the project.Get all the news from your area – as well as features, entertainment, sport and the latest on Lanarkshire’s recovery from the coronavirus pandemic – straight to your fingertips, 24/7.

Rutherglen will host the first at Malls Mire community woodland on Monday, May 13, followed the next day by a walk at South Haugh nature reserve in Hamilton, with both beginning at 10.30am. All are welcome to attend the walks, which last no longer than an hour and go at a gentle pace. Participants can register at www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/get-walking-lanarkshire-80820187653.
