The Ipoh High Court, which was closed along with other courts around the country under the movement control order to curb the Covid-19 crisis.

“For example, cases can be heard via video conferencing without the physical presence of lawyers in courtrooms,” he said, adding that such facilities are used in arbitration matters. He added that new technology should be utilised even in normal situations as this could help overcome problems like parking and long waits to dispose of cases.

Instead, applications for leave to appeal in the Federal Court are to be heard in the presence of counsel representing the litigants.
