Skylar Celeste Boone The Dothan Leisure Services Polar Plunge is back. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Doug Tew Therapeutic Recreation Center Pool. This event is a super fun way to raise money and support all of our Special Olympic Athletes and Therapeutic Programming Participants within Dothan Leisure Services.
“This event is important because it brings community involvement into showing support to our Special Olympic athletes showing them that they are valued and cared for,” said Clay Paramore, Therapeutic Recreation Supervisor. This is the second year of the polar plunge. Last year was a big success and the event raised over $22,000 for the Special Olympics therapeutic recreation program.Check-in will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a Costume Contest and the Plunge to follow. The costume contest winner will be voted on by the crowd and they will receive a prize. There will also be a new award this year called the rubber duck award with a prize pack.

To register for this event, please visit DothanLeisureServices.org/registration and look for the Polar Plunge tab. Along with individual registration they are allowing group and team registrations and they are giving out prize packs to individuals and teams that raise the most money.
If you do not want to participate in the Plunge, but would like a T-shirt or to donate, that is an option as well. Not only will your participation benefit the well-deserving athletes and participants, but it will provide them with the love, encouragement and support that they need from our community.
