Germany's Olympics team has debuted an updated uniform design at the Paris Games.
German sportswear brand Erima created the uniforms, incorporating the colors of the country’s flag: red, black and gold. The two full-body designs were modeled by athletes Sarah Voss and Pauline Schäfer-Betz on Sunday during the gymnastics all-around qualification tournament.Princess Charlene of Monaco, Halle Berry and More Stars Lead Olympic Torch Relay Ahead of Paris Games

At many modern tournaments, women gymnasts typically wear leotards that bear the entire leg. Men, on the other hand, have long worn pants during competition.
“We wanted to show that every woman, everybody, should decide what to wear,” German gymnast Elisabeth Seitz told The Washington Post at the time.“We girls had a big influence on this,” she added. “The coaches were also very much into it. They said they want us to feel the most confident and comfortable in any case.”“We had a lot of positive comments afterward,” Schäfer-Betz told Reuters of the response to the uniforms. “The main part for us was that we are comfortable in these.

Coach and retired track star Lauren Fleshman, who won five NCAA championships and two pro-national championships, called the revealing garb “a costume born of patriarchal forces that are no longer welcome or needed to get eyes on women’s sports” in an Instagram post.
