German firm denies reports on Trump’s vaccine offer
German biotech company CureVac says it is focused on developing a coronavirus vaccine ‘with the goal to reach, help and protect people and patients worldwide’. – EPA pic, March 17, 2020.
A GERMAN biotech firm yesterday flatly denied newspaper reports that US President Donald Trump offered to pay for exclusive rights to a coronavirus vaccine. Citing sources close to the German government, Die Welt reported that Trump offered “a billion dollars” to secure research into a vaccine by CureVac “only for the US”.
