HBO Max has added one of 2026's recently released disaster movies, featuring How to Train Your Dragon star Gerard Butler.
. During its theatrical run last January, the film received mixed reviews from the critics and audiences. It currently holds 49% approval rating onis finally available to stream on HBO Max.
This served as a sequel to 2020’s hit survival movie Greenland. In the film, Butler, Morena Baccarin, and Roman Griffin Davis reprised their respective roles as John, Allison, and Nathan Garrity. Unlike the first installment, the sequel was poorly received at the box office, grossing only over $44 million against a budget of around $90 million.
The ensemble cast also included Amber Rose Revah as Dr. Amina, Peter Polycarpou as Dr. Haugen, William Abadie as Denis Laurent, Tommie Earl Jenkins as General Sharpe, Nelia Valery Da Costa as Camille, Trond Fausa Aurvåg as Lars, Gordon Alexander as Lieutenant Blake, Rachael Evelyn as Kerri Holt, Alex Lanipekun as Riley Watson, and more.
“In the aftermath of a comet strike that decimated most of the earth, the film follows the Garrity family as they’re forced to leave the safety of their bunker in Greenland to traverse a shattered world in search of a new home,” reads the movie’s official synopsis. Greenland 2: Migration was directed by Ric Roman Waugh, with Mitchell LaFortune and Chris Sparling writing the screenplay.
It was produced by Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, Butler, Alan Siegel, Sebastien Raybaud, John Zois, Brendon Boyea, and Waugh. The creative team consisted of director of photography Martin Ahlgren, editor Colby Parker Jr., composer David Buckley, production designer Vincent Reynaud, costume designer Amanda Monk, and more.
