Georgia House Speaker Jon Burns directed police to arrest State Sen. Colton Moore (R) after the America First lawmaker attempted to attend the State of the State joint session, Breitbart News has exclusively learned. Moore, who had previously made disparaging remarks about former Georgia House Speaker David Ralston , was barred from entering the House Chamber by Burns.
Despite this, Moore arrived at the state capitol on January 16, 2025, determined to fulfill his duties as a lawmaker and attend the State of the State Address. Burns, citing House Rules requiring the upholding of decorum and decency of speech, had previously ordered Moore to be prevented from entering any property of the Georgia House of Representatives, including the House Chamber. This order was issued following Moore's comments about Ralston and remained in effect, barring Moore from the chamber unless he delivered a sincere apology to Ralston's family and loved ones from the floor of the Senate before January 16th. Political strategist Cliff Maloney, who focuses on state senate races, condemned Burns' actions, calling them tyrannical and corrupt. Maloney expressed his belief that Moore, an America First patriot, was unjustly targeted for his efforts to challenge Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who prosecuted former President Donald Trump. Maloney stated that Burns' actions would be remembered as a stain on the Burns family name for generations
