The Georgia Republican Party has expelled former Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan for supporting Democratic candidates and making false claims about his background.
The Georgia Republican Party expelled former Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan for allegedly violating his ' oath of allegiance ' to the party, including by supporting Vice President Kamala Harris in the presidential election. The party accuses Duncan of falsely implying he had received an endorsement from President-elect Donald Trump during his campaign for lieutenant governor.
The release also claims Duncan lied or 'exaggerated' about graduating from Georgia Tech and playing major league baseball for the Miami Marlins. \The Georgia Republican Party says Duncan's single term as Lieutenant Governor was marred by embarrassment and scandal. They claim he sought to undermine the candidacy of Burt Jones, the Republican nominee to succeed him as Lieutenant Governor, and gave aid to the Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor. They also say Duncan endorsed both President Joe Biden and Harris in 2024, both violations of his 'oath of allegiance to the Republican Party.' He also made speeches and appearances as a “Republican for Harris,” it said. By his pattern of conduct, Duncan has forfeited any claim to being even a nominal ‘Republican,’” the party wrote. “Duncan has obtained paid employment from CNN as a ‘Republican’ commentator, using his false credential as a ‘Republican’ to attack the Republican Party.” The release closes by officially expelling Duncan from the party and demanding he stop referring to himself as a Republican
