A heartwarming comedy series, 'Redemption' centers on a father-daughter duo trying to mend their fractured relationship after decades of estrangement. George Wallace portrays Harry, a traditional car wash owner, whose world is turned upside down when his transgender daughter, Desiree (played by Tichina Arnold), unexpectedly returns home. What was supposed to be a short visit for Desiree turns into a more extended stay when the art gallery she ran in New York City loses funding and she becomes roommates with her dad. Her relationship with Harry isn’t the only one Desiree finds herself navigating, as her identity causes some whispers in the church and a bit of strife between her and her closeted best friend Louis who’s the choir director there.
