service that is free at the point of use, that cares for everyone from cradle to the grave – a concept designed, thought up and executed by a Labour government.
It is shameful that Glasgow has a death rate such as this and the blame solely sits with both the SNP government in Holyrood for constantly underfunding our city, and the SNP administration in the City Chambers for failing to demand better for our city and use the money they have more wisely. Sadly, we read daily about the horrific waiting lists, the missed diagnoses and the lengthy ambulance call-out times that people have using the NHS these days. We read about that alongside the news that doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals are leaving the service as they are under so much pressure and stress, feeling undervalued, underpaid and fed up. Who can blame them? Not me.will be able to wave a magic wand and solve these issues.
The achievements of Labour governments are legacies like the NHS. An institution whose concept was to care for and look after our society’s most vulnerable. The vision was that people would not be dying on our streets, in substandard homes and left feeling hopeless.
