George Floyd's family sues Minneapolis and police officers involved in his death.
Attorneys representing the family of George Floyd have filed a civil lawsuit against the city of Minneapolis and the four police officers that were charged in his death.Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man, died May 25 after former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on his neck for eight minutes and 46 seconds while arresting him outside of a convenience store over an alleged counterfeit bill. The incident was recorded by bystanders who posted the video on social media and it went viral.
Crump said Wednesday that brutality against Black men is a systemic issue in the Minneapolis police department. Both a county medical examiner and an independent medical examiner hired by Floyd's family concluded that his death was a homicide.
