Star Wars : Dark Empire follows the rules of an extended universe Legends event, as it was a comic book series that was published by Dark Horse Comics from 1991 to 1992. It added to the Original Trilogy mythos taking place six years after Return of the Jedi as the galaxy struggles against a resurgent Empire, which is now led by a clone of Emperor Palpatine. This story is not considered canon, but it played a big role in Star Wars fans' lives, and it can live on with Gentle Giant's Ltd.
