The Genteel Beaux: Young Men of Distinction program began in 1985.
For years, high school boys on the cusp of manhood have gone through this remarkable effort and are better for it.DOTHAN, Ala. - Seeds planted today sprout into what we are tomorrow. Over the years, the Genteel Beaux program has planted lots of seeds and is still doing it.
Genteel Beaux can create long-lasting relationships to be leaders in school while in the program, and leaders in the community once they complete high school. “Our theme has always been, ‘It is better to mold boys than to mend men,’” Sharon Kelley, the president of the club, said.“We are looking to enhance those skills that they have acquired from their parents and for their high school and their church involvement,” Kelley said.Kelley is proud that, from the beginning, Les Vingt Socialite pursued a powerful way to influence young men.
“Do unto others as you would like them to do unto you,” Jackson said. “If you are not respectful, why would you expect them to be respectful back.”
