The Oreca-based Genesis prototype will run in the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2026 and join IMSA GTP in 2027.
In its first decade, Hyundai's luxury brand Genesis focused on matching the high-end carmakers from Germany and Japanese with a wide selection of sporty, premium sedans and crossovers, but never quite going so far as to dip its toes into all-out performance vehicles. That changes next year, when the Magma sub-brand launches with a variant of the GV60. After that, Genesis is coming the world where the German brands made their name: Motorsport.
That 2026 program will be run with support from chassis supplier Oreca's racing division and current LMP2 team IDEC Sport. Former Renault F1 boss and current Hyundai motorsports head Cyril Abiteboul will serve as team principal of the combined program, which will be called Genesis Magma Racing.A full driver lineup has not been announced, but Genesis has a head start with two signings.
