General Motors has initiated a recall affecting over 132,000 trucks due to potential issues with power-unlatching tailgates, which could unlatch unexpectedly and result in a hazardous situation.
General Motors has recalled more than 132,000 trucks over concerns that tailgates could unlatch unexpectedly.Roughly 132,037 trucks are under the recall, which was posted on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website. The recall involves certain 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD 2500, 3500, and GMC Sierra HD 2500, 3500 vehicles equipped with power-unlatching tailgates.
Water intrusion could cause the tailgate's electronic gate-release switch to short-circuit, which can result in the tailgate inadvertently unlatching while the vehicle is in park, according to the NHTSA. "An unlatched tailgate may open and result in a loss of unsecured cargo, creating a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash," the U.S. auto safety regulator said. Owners were advised to check that the tailgate is closed and latched before driving.
