You can often here him yelling instructions to the players from outside the fence. Things like,”You’ve got to catch that,” or “You need to hustle,” or “You’re out of position,” and much more. Sometimes even the umpires aren’t exempt from his critique. Under Dews’ leadership, the Lady Govs won nine consecutive Southern Division championships, which included a record 78 consecutive division wins. Wallace won three state championships, which were followed by appearances in the Junior College World Series. So when Dews speaks — or yells — he does so with a high level of expertise.
