“I’ve been able to use my platform to reunite lost loved ones from way back when,” Robinson said. “They’ll be like, ‘Hey, that’s my father, I haven’t seen him since like 1989 and it’s 2025 now,’ and they’re able to see their lost loved one on my platform represented in a positive way.” “What happens when the next TikTok or the next app comes out that people get on to help try to build another international community to help spread information, help spread people’s stories about what they’ve gone through in their life,” TikTok user Jimmy Nichols asked. “I feel like this is setting a dangerous precedent in America.”

“I feel like our government always talks about free speech and champions for free speech, and to try to get rid of an app that has been used for free speech since it came to be is kind of hypocritical,” said Robinson.Though TikTok will be banned Sunday unless the company sells to an American buyer by that date, it is still unclear what this ban will look like.
