KUALA LUMPUR: The anti-smoking bill dubbed as the Generational Endgame (GEG) will be tabled for the first reading in the Dewan Rakyat on June 12 (Monday), says Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa.

KUALA LUMPUR: The anti-smoking bill dubbed as the Generational Endgame will be tabled for the first reading in the Dewan Rakyat on June 12 , says Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa .

However, Dr Zaliha said the date for the second reading would depend on the dates provided by the House.Dr Zaliha said the ministry was taking a non-punitive approach with the Bill aimed to eradicate smoking among children born in 2007 and the subsequent years. Under the revised Bill, the enforcement in relation to the registration, advertising, packaging, sale and use of conventional tobacco products such as cigarettes, cigar, loose tobacco and rolled cigarettes would come into effect for the GEG generation once the Bill was passed.
