Tyson Stengle has received support from Geelong captain Patrick Dangerfield after the AFL premiership forward was rushed to hospital over the weekend. 7NEWS revealed Stengle was unresponsive and carried out of a Geelong nightclub by concerned friends at about 2.30am on Sunday morning. The 25-year-old was taken to University Geelong Hospital in a serious condition and he remained there for several hours. Stengle is recovering well and was seen running light laps at training on Monday morning.
“We treat our players like adults so they have every right to go out and enjoy themselves,” Dangerfield told Sunrise on Tuesday morning. “Clearly with that you’ve got to do it responsibly and there’s been a bit of an error in judgement around that. “But we love Tys and we will always support him.” Stengle recently turned his back on a lucrative offer from St Kilda to ink a five-year extension with Geelong, tying him to the club until at least the end of 2029.
