The investment aims to meet the increasing global electricity demand. The Massachusetts-based company will focus on enhancing gas power , grid, nuclear, and onshore wind manufacturing sites. This will create approximately 1,500 new manufacturing and engineering jobs across multiple states.
'These investments demonstrate our unwavering commitment and responsibility as the leading energy manufacturer in the United States to address the accelerating energy demands of both America and the world,' stated Scott Strazik, CEO of GE Vernova. 'These strategic investments and the jobs they generate aim to assist our customers in meeting the doubling of demand and accelerate American innovation and technology development to bolster the country's energy security and global competitiveness,' he added. Nearly half of the funding will be allocated to expanding the company's gas turbine manufacturing operations, with new projects in Greenville, South Carolina; Schenectady, New York; Parsippany, New Jersey, and Bangor, Maine. Approximately $100 million will be invested in expanding innovation at its Advanced Research Center in Niskayuna, New York, with an additional $15 million dedicated specifically to Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) research. GE Vernova also plans to increase capacity at its Grid Solutions facilities in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, and Clearwater, Florida. Furthermore, it will allocate over $50 million to enhance its nuclear business, including upgrades at its Wilmington, North Carolina, factory and the launch of its next-generation nuclear fuel design.The company will also expand capacity for onshore wind factories in the U.S., investing nearly $100 million in its manufacturing facilities in Pensacola, Florida; Schenectady, New York; and Grand Forks, North Dakota, as well as its remanufacturing facilities in Amarillo, Texas. Finally, GE Vernova plans another $10 million-plus investment in its Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania facility over the next two years to expand capabilities across its Electrification segment. This aims to add U.S. manufacturing capacity to support the U.S. energy grid, as well as the growing demand for solar and energy storage solutions. GE Vernova employs approximately 75,000 people across more than 100 countries worldwide. Its technology contributes to the production of around 25% of the world's energy
