The 24-year-old right-hander, who turned heads during spring training, showed improvement in his most recent start after struggling to begin the Triple-A season.
LOS ANGELES ― Rookie Gavin Stone turned heads during spring training when he pitched four games for the Dodgers and did not allow a run. But his major league debut would have to wait another month, until Wednesday, when the Dodgers’ rotation was granted an extra two days of rest in preparation for a big series in San Diego.against the Philadelphia Phillies.
“We’ve seen what he can do on the minor league side,” Roberts said of Stone. “To get him here in this environment is beneficial in itself. Ultimately if we decide to pull that lever, it’s going to be fun for all of us.” Dodgers infielder Michael Busch, who was present for five of Stone’s six outings at Oklahoma City, believes those numbers paint an incomplete picture.
