The Gauteng Youth Brigade, under the Nasi iSpani, is determined to hold the government accountable.
Last year, Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi launched the recruitment drive to address unemployment in the province.
Former teaching assistants have been unemployed since the end of July and are seeking an audience with the Premier. The GYB says Lesufi failed to fulfill his promise made in a speech earlier this year to give 32 000 teaching assistants permanent contracts following the May 29 elections.“We had a protest at the Department of Education and then in the meeting, we concluded that after three weeks, on their side they will go and look for funding for the programme to continue on an extended basis while they are waiting for funds from the National government. So, our 3 weeks is ending next week, on the 28th.
