Gauteng Education also cited that the placement progress was significantly slowed by parents who are not accepting placement offers.
will on Monday, 23 October 2023, provide an update on the 2024 Online Admissions learner placements process for grade 1 and 8.Grade 1 and Grade 8 Placement
As of 7 September 2023, 141 036 applicants accepted placement offers, but it remained concerning that 71 775 parents had not responded to them. However, Gauteng Education also cited that the placement progress was significantly slowed by parents who are not accepting placement offers as the spaces are reserved for 7 days while no offers can be released to other applicants from the same school.
The Gauteng Education Department blamed the shortcomings on the parents not accepting placement offers as the spaces are reserved for 7 days while no offers can be released to other applicants from the same school. “Applicants with offers not accepted within 7 schools will be auto-placed at the school with a placement offer closest to the parent’s home address after the 7th day,” the department warned.
Gauteng Education also reminded parents with placement offers who have no access to the internet to accept placement offers must visit schools, districts or head office to be assisted to accept offers, OR call the department on 0800 000 789 for assistance.
