Warren Gatland has backed Andy Farrell to succeed him as British and Irish Lions head coach after ruling himself out of the job for the 2025 tour.The New Zealander says he would like to see Farrell take the role for the tour to Australia because of the "fantastic job" he has done with Ireland.
"You cannot deny what Ireland has achieved as a nation over the last few years and you are starting to see the fruition of the alignment between the Irish provinces and the union. There is no doubt that Andy has done a fantastic job."Under Gatland, the Lions won the 2013 tour to Australia, drew in New Zealand in 2017, and lost 2-1 to South Africa in 2021.
