Gas prices: The trend of cheaper gas continues

Tuesday’s gas prices marked another day of relief for people at the pump, as the price for a gallon of regular-grade gasoline hit $3.518.

Tuesday’s gasoline price is lower than last week’s when it was $3.586 per gallon. It is also cheaper than it was a month ago, when gas prices were soaring and at $3.659 per gallon. An interesting development, however, is that gas prices are now officially lower, on average, than they were a year ago when it cost $3.553 per gallon for regular gas.

Mississippi is still the state with the cheapest gas prices in the nation for regular-grade gas at $3.007 per gallon. This is the same price it was on Monday. Arkansas is the state with the next cheapest gas prices, coming in at $3.021 per gallon on Tuesday. California remains the state with the most expensive gas, with a regular gas costing $5.025 per gallon. This slightly decreased from Monday’s price of $5.044 per gallon. It is also cheaper than a week ago when the average price was $5.115.

This was a slip drop from Monday when the price was $3.709 per gallon. A month ago, gas in D.C. cost $3.734 per gallon.
