According to the AAA, ongoing tensions with Iran has led the cost of gas in the Philadelphia area to jump by about 30-cents a gallon since last week.

With no end in sight to ongoing tensions with Iran, the cost of gas in the Philadelphia area increased by about 30-cents a gallon since last week, according to the AAA.

The ongoing war with Iran has led gas prices to spike, with the cost to fuel up locally jumping eight cents a gallon just overnight — and over 30 cents a gallon for over the past week. NBC10’s Breanna Weick has details. Gas prices are up across the country and they show no sign of tumbling as there is no end in sight to the ongoing war with Iran.

, overnight, gas prices in the Philadelphia region jumped to $4.58 a gallon on Tuesday, up 8-cents from the day before, while the cost of gas, overall increased by about 30-cents a gallon since last week. But, Philadelphia isn't alone in seeing these increases. According to AAA, the national average cost of gas, per gallon, as of Tuesday at about 6 a.m., was $4.30. A week ago, the average was $4.03 per gallon.

And, if you go back a month, the average cost per gallon was $3.99, AAA reported. All of these costs were over a dollar more per gallon than the national average cost of gas at this time last year, which AAA said was $3.18 per gallon.that the cost of gas has led to thousands of increased costs for his landscaping business a month and caused price increases for his customers.

"It's pretty tough," he said. "We have to pass it on to our customers and it's not fair. And, it's killing us. It's really killing us.

"The owner of a limousine rental company told NBC10 that he has seen costs nearly double, as it used to take about $60 to fill up the tank in a car in his fleet. As summer approaches, some are postponing planned trips and looking for other ways to save.

For example, for a trip from South Philadelphia to Ocean City, New Jersey, with the current cost of gas, it would cost a vehicle that gets about 25 miles a gallon about $20 in gas, round trip. For Anthony Fullard, of Germantown, he's concerned the increased costs could impact the time he spends with his family.

"It's going to impact the grandchildren," he said. "It's going to impact what places we'd like to go. " Currently, according to AAA, gas prices across the country are the highest they have been since July of 2022 and, with conflict still ongoing with Iran, they show no signs of coming back down any time soon.
