Fire engines and paramedic vehicles were among those who attended

An area of the street, near the Market Place shopping centre, was taped off for over an hour after the alarm was raised around 10:30am, locals said. Experts from the gas company were called in to assess the scene along with fire crews. Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said they worked with the ambulance service and Cadent to 'make the area safe.'A spokesperson said: “Shortly before 10.30am this morning, Sunday August 18, three fire engines from Bolton North and Farnworth fire stations were called to reports of a gas leak on Corporation Street, Bolton.
