'I need to be out there making game-winning plays for my defense.' JustinM_NFL chatted with garrettismynam3 about his illustrious career at Syracuse, how he developed a physical mentality in coverage, defending the run, and much more. NFLDraft

is a proven commodity in the 2023 NFL Draft. Williams possesses years of standout tape and production. A versatile cover-man that thrives in both man and zone coverage, Williams will be an immediate contributor at the next level.

I immediately began laying down the building blocks. A lot of people my age weren’t thinking that far ahead, but I was. My biggest goal when I got to Syracuse was to make sure it led to an NFL career. I’m on the brink of achieving that. JM: When I turn the tape on, I see an extremely physical and aggressive defender. How did you develop that mentality in coverage?

Garrett Williams: It’s a part of football that can’t be ignored. It’s another way for me as a cornerback and overall defender to set the tone for my defense. Garrett Williams: In that scenario, it’s 3rd-and-long, I guess I would say zone coverage. I can make a great break on the ball. Whether it’s coming towards me or somebody else, I can read the play and break on the ball. I’m trying to make sure it’s fourth down and the offense is punting.was unexpected. Talk to me about overcoming that adversity and where you’re at today.

As for where I’m at now, I’m actively running, jumping, and sprinting. I’m at a great place, especially being four months out. I saw Dr. Cooper last Wednesday and he was thrilled with my progress. I’m on track to be 100% ready before training camp. I can still say I feel very lucky and blessed to be in this position.
