Gaming's biggest week of the year is kicking off. Here's how to cash in on the $150 billion industry
The Electronic Entertainment Expo, known as E3 for short, will kick off Tuesday and feature games, products and announcements from the most well-known names in the video game space, which research firm Newzoo estimates will be worth almost $150 billion in 2019.
Known as electronic sports, or competitive video gaming, esports is projected to generate over $1 billion in revenue this year, and over a third of that revenue will come from the North American market. And that $1 billion revenue projection comes from a "whole new ecosystem" that Lopez emphasizes will be largely derived from media rights deals, advertising and sponsorships.
