GameStop, the once-dominant video game retailer, is accelerating its store closure plans, anticipating a significant number of additional closures in its 2025 fiscal year, which ends in January 2026. This follows the closure of 590 stores in fiscal 2024. Facing challenges from digital downloads, online retailers, and declining mall traffic, the company also reported declining revenue. Meme stock GameStop, once a dominant brick-and-mortar video game retailer, is continuing to close more stores in 2026.
