The Jaguars took the lead late but lost on a Carson Wentz touchdown pass with about 2 minutes left.
Now that was a frustrating drive for Jaguars fans. A flurry of missed tackles, including two on a single pass to Terry McLaurin to lunge for a first down. Then, just when the Jaguars had Washington stopped on an off-target pass by Carson Wentz, officials flagged Dawuane Smoot for roughing the passer.
The drive was marred by an injury to Washington defensive lineman Phidarian Mathis, who was carted from the field. That didn't take long. Carson Wentz made that look easy, picking apart the Jaguars' pass defense. He found converted QB Armani Rogers on a short pass that turned into big yards into Jacksonville territory, then aimed a strike downfield to running back Antonio Gibson inside the 10.
