Game of Thrones could have made its most epic battle even more epic. But a huge direwolf scene was cut. Why?
, some stuff is going to end on the cutting room floor, either through editing or in the writer’s room, and one confirmed casualty is going to sound pretty cool to a lot of fans. There wasa battle between 50 direwolves and the Night King’s dragon in season 8 during The Long Night.
“There were many things that happened, that people would have been so happy to have happen,” Sapochnik said Then, even though this is no doubt supposed to reference Nymeria’s wolfpack, Arya’s runaway direwolf, I’m not sure how many show watchers would have gotten that. The books make a very big deal about Nymeria going around and collecting a truly massive pack of wolves over the years, but in the show, we only saw her with a couple when Arya reunited with her, so this would have been kind of random if Nymeria suddenly showed up like this, and I doubt a lot of people would have made that connection.
