The mobile strategy game Game of Thrones: Conquest introduces a month-long campaign titled Freedom in Essos, running from July 1-24, 2026. This event revisits Daenerys Targaryen's iconic liberation of Astapor, Yunkai, and Meereen through various in-game activities. The campaign culminates in a major PvP finale over the weekend of July 24-26, featuring either the War for the Throne cross-kingdom battle or the Rebellion event for eligible kingdoms, unlocking numerous Seats of Power simultaneously.
Arguably one of the most memorable and important periods in Game of Thrones was Daenerys Targaryen's rise to power across Essos. Long before she ever set foot in Westeros, the exiled princess clawed her way to power and became one of the most formidable leaders in the world, liberating the slave cities of Astapor, Yunkai, and Meereen while assembling an unstoppable army and allies that would eventually fuel her campaign for the Iron Throne.
No matter your thoughts on the final seasons of the show, this storyline remains one of the franchise's defining arcs, and even years after the finale, Daenerys' liberation of Slaver's Bay continues to resonate with fans as one of the high points of George R.R. Martin's universe.
Now, players will have the chance to revisit that pivotal chapter, as Game of Thrones: Rebellion will pit them against each other in an epic final battle across Essos and kick off a bold new chapter for the franchise. Game of Thrones: Conquest is a long-running mobile strategy game from Zynga in which players build their own kingdoms, raise armies and dragons, join alliances, and compete for control of Westeros through PvE and large-scale PvP events.
Every month introduces a themed event arc with exclusive gear, recipes, crafting materials, and story-inspired activities. July 2026's featured campaign is Freedom in Essos, a multi-week event running from July 1–24 that celebrates Daenerys Targaryen's liberation of Slaver's Bay through events such as Liberation of Meereen, Uprising in Meereen, Bay of Dragons, and several crafting and progression challenges, all culminating in the month's major PvP finale.
That finale is the War for the Throne & Rebellion weekend, but not every kingdom participates in the same activity. Kingdoms selected for War for the Throne engage in cross-kingdom warfare, using event teleports to invade rival kingdoms while fighting over Seats of Power , including Invasion, Respite, Retribution, and Open War phases.
Meanwhile, fully unlocked kingdoms that are not eligible for KvK instead receive the Rebellion event. During Rebellion weekends, numerous Seats of Power unlock outside their normal schedule, while every Paramount Seat of Power, including King's Landing, Winterfell, Dragonstone, Casterly Rock, Highgarden, Riverrun, Storm's End, Sunspear, and the Eyrie, become available simultaneously.
It's a massive incentive for players to participate in PvP, giving them more objectives for alliances to capture and defend before the kingdom eventually returns to its standard SoP rotation once the event concludes. The schedule for Rebellion players is as follows: On the monthly calendar, this corresponds to the War for the Throne weekend running July 24–26, with Rebellion serving as the equivalent PvP weekend for Game of Thrones: Conquest kingdoms not participating in cross-kingdom War for the Throne.
