Galveston ISD election ends in tie, heads to December rematch

by the Galveston County Daily News. School board officials confirmed the tie on Wednesday night.

Lakin and Jencks each received 1,060 votes, according to final and official total posted on the Galveston County Clerk's election website. After election night, Lakin had trailed Jencks by just six votes. In the days since, Lakin gained two more absentee votes and four more votes from Nov. 8, according to the clerk's records. The final six votes were from provisional ballots that were accepted after election day, according to The Daily News.

Jencks and Lakin are running for a position that represents eastern parts of Galveston Island as well as part of Bolivar Peninsula.
