Event organizers with the Wasatch Front Wiener Dog Racing Association said over 100 wiener dogs were registered in the event. Short legs sprinted — and moseyed — across a 50-meter track for the competition at the Millcreek Common, which is normally a skate loop. "Is your wiener a winner? There’s only one way to find out. Don your Derby attire, celebrate the end of winter, and join us for an unforgettable race," a press release stated.Several people, and other dogs, attended to watch the races and enjoy pet-themed booths.
“Spring has arrived at Millcreek Common, and it’s time to let the dogs out!" said Aimee McConkie, Millcreek community life director. "We love our pets here in Millcreek, and plan to celebrate our short-legged furry pals in the cutest Derby in all the land.”
