Limited by an MLS-imposed transfer ban, the Galaxy brings in five players, with four coming ahead of the closing of Wednesday’s secondary transfer window
With a transfer ban facing the club for the summer window, there was a lot of uncertainty as to what moves the Galaxy could pull off to improve the team.
Before Wednesday’s deadline, the Galaxy added four more players. Maya Yoshida signed as a free agent; midfielder Edwin Cerrillo was acquired from FC Dallas for $200,000 in GAM; midfielder Diego Fagundez arrives from Austin FC in exchange for midfielder Memo Rodriguez and $300,000 in GAM; and forward Michael Barrios was acquired from Colorado for the Galaxy’s 2024 first-round draft pick.
Yoshida, 34, joins the Galaxy as a free agent and is signed through the end of next year. The other moves were made using GAM. “Under the circumstances, we have a lot of guys who know our league and won’t take a lot of time to integrate because they know our league but also will bring special qualities that our group needs … it gives us depth, it makes us better and we have 12 important games in front of us that we have to compete in one at a time to try to put ourselves in a good position down the stretch.”
