MANILA, Philippines -- The Blackwater Elite have apologized to the Games and Amusements Board for their premature return to training, ahead of the official go-signal of the organization and the PBA.

GAB Chairman Abraham Mitra said on Monday that he and Commissioner Edward Trinidad have met with Blackwater management, including owner Dioceldo Sy."We have accepted apology, but the Board needs to study further their reply to our letter, if we will sanction or fine them," Mitra said.

"They promised to adhere to all the rules and safety standards, as well as the directives of the IATF and GAB," he added. Sy said on One Sports' "Sports Page" program that the team has started to conduct workouts, while following the protocols set by the PBA. His revelation landed the team in hot water, as the PBA and GAB had yet to give an official permission for teams to practice again.

Mitra reminded the Elite to wait for the IATF resolution on the resumption of team practices as well as the joint administrative order from GAB, the Philippine Sports Commission, and the Department of Health before starting their training programs.Mitra adds that GAB may issue a "stern warning" to Blackwater to refrain from practicing while the order has not been released.

The PBA had already fined Blackwater P100,000 for their infraction. The whole team also has to be tested for COVID-19 and undergo a 10-day quarantine period.
