The Raiders scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth to close the gap to three runs and had a runner on base when a line out to the third baseman stopped the rally and ended the game, securing the Rebels’ season-opening win. Blayne Wood led G.W. Long with three singles and two runs batted in. Eben Pritchett earned a double and a triple and drove in two runs, while Lawson German and DJ Calhoun had a single and two RBI each. Greyson Haynes and Aaron Yarbrough both added a single and RBI for the Rebels. Wood started on the mound and pitched three innings, striking out five and allowing one earned run and two hits. North Bay Haven 13, Cottonwood 12Cottonwood came charging in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring seven runs, but it wasn’t enough as the Bears fell to North Bay Haven 13-12.Down 13-5, Cottonwood’s Ethan McNeill scored on a passed ball, JP Pitts singled in a run and Braylon Morris drew a bases-loaded walk to cut the margin to 13-8. Austyn Miller followed with a run-scoring single before McNeill cleaned the bases with a three-run triple to make it 13-12, but that was the end of the scoring for the Bears. North Bay Haven scored in each of the first five innings, including five runs in the third inning, to build its big lead. For Cottonwood, Jaxxon Davis had a double, a triple and three runs batted in and both Ethan Simmons and JP Pitts had two hits with one RBI. McNeill’s three-run triple was the other highlight. Eufaula 17, Northside Methodist 4 The Tigers broke the game open with a 10-run fourth inning to break away from a 7-4 lead and end the game on the 10-run mercy rule in five innings. The game was tied 4-4 after the first inning before Eufaula scored two in the second and one in the third before the fourth-inning outburst. Reed Hinton was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs batted in and Mac Hays was 2-for-2 with two runs batted in for Eufaula. Corbin Knott, Ben Jackson and Carter Mitchell all had a hit and RBI with Jackson’s hit a double. The Tigers capitalized on 14 walks by NMA pitching. Mitchell was the winning pitcher, working two scoreless and hitless innings of relief with one strikeout. Hinton pitched the last 2 1/3, striking out five and allowing one hit.Ashford 14, Houston County 4Ashford erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the first inning to spark a 14-4 win over Houston County. Eight Yellow Jackets had at least one hit with Harleem Fuller going 2-for-2 with two runs batted in and Waylon Woodham 2-for-3 with one RBI to lead the way. Reid Walden had a two-run single, Jace Ard had a run-scoring triple, and both Chris Bond and Wesley Mclendon had an RBI double. AJ Lewis added an RBI ground out. Walden pitched two innings, striking out three and giving up three runs and two hits and Clayton Johnson worked the last three innings, striking out four and giving up a run on three hits. For Houston County, Emarion Jackson was 2-for-3 with two runs batted in and Nolan Fair had a single and RBI.On Monday night, the Tigers edged the Warhawks 8-7 in eight innings. In Tuesday’s game, Chase Ray was 2-for-2 with two runs batted in, Slaten Bridges had a double and two RBI and Hunter Lamb had two singles. Colton Reeves, Payton Howerton, and Colten Shelton had a hit with a RBI. Gus Revels was the winning pitcher.In Monday’s game, Bridges scored on a passed ball to win the game in the eighth inning. The Tigers scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning to force extra innings. Lamb was the winning pitcher, working the final two innings in relief. Abbeville Christian 9, Wiregrass Kings 3Lucas Shepherd was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs batted in and Jaiden Buckhannon was 1-for-1 with three walks and four runs scored to lead ACA’s win. Taylor Bower added a hit and RBI. Bower was also the winning pitcher, striking six during four innings of relief, allowing no runs and one hit. Matthew Bush pitched the last two innings, allowing an unearned run and one hit. For the Kings, Zach Crisler was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Kaden Martin added an RBI single and Daniel Simmons had an RBI off a bases-loaded walk. Lakeside School 14-16, Springwood 2-0 Lakeside School swept Springwood 14-2 and 16-0 in a doubleheader in Lanett. In the opener, Tyler-Mark Bullock and Carson Scott both had two hits and three runs batted in, while Trent Hayes had two hits, one a double, and one RBI. Conner Britton and Brayden Vachon added a hit and RBI each.In game two, Hayes pitched a three-inning perfect game with seven strikeouts out of nine batters.
