The Together Home program has housed 1,092 people across NSW since its inception during the height of COVID, with 74 per cent maintaining their tenancies – but its funding is due to run out in June.
For more than a decade, 30-year-old Tyler Byrnes lurched between homeless shelters, crisis accommodation and sleeping rough.
Crucially it provides them with tailored wraparound support services, like mental health or trauma support, for about two years as they transition out of homelessness. The City of Sydney said crisis and temporary accommodation beds that provide immediate relief and support were at 96.6 per cent occupancy – a 3.6 per cent increase from last year.Ms Parsons said an evaluation of the Together Home program by the Centre For Social Impact showed it had already proved its worth.
"NSW is experiencing a homelessness and housing crisis, we know we need to make change to support our most vulnerable," Ms Jackson said."The strategy will outline a whole of system transformation that will make NSW a place where homelessness is rare, brief and not repeated.
