A 20-person funeral party who dined at Crazy Cajun Seafood & Sports in Houston, Texas reportedly dashed on a more than $500 check, then threatened to shoot restaurant staffers who objected, according to staff member,” read the text atop the video that has over 1.2 million views since being posted earlier this month.
Apparently, 18 people in the group walked out without paying any of their tabs because they weren’t happy with the 20% gratuity that was added to their bill, the video’s narrator explained.According to a receipt shown in the video, the meal totaled $542.67. This included tax plus an added 20 percent gratuity of $84.64.
The group that refused to pay the bill made their way out of the restaurant back to the cars, video shows.“For a bill this large, $542, it’s normal practice to add the tip,” one viewer noted.However, the incident reopened an age-old debate for some, with one arguing that the practice of tipping waiters is inherently flawed: “Raise the price of the food so you’re wages getting raised.
