The future of one of Ireland's oldest rowing clubs is "at risk" if they can not secure the funds needed for vital refurbishment works.

The highly respected club has proven to be invaluable in providing many national, international, world and Olympic stars a solid foundation during their formative years in the sport.Olympic medal winners Alan Campbell and the Chambers brothers, Peter and Richard, came through the ranks at the club and still have close ties with it.

Currently the club has 70 competing rowers ranging from 13 to 66 years of age but the future of the oldest sporting club in Coleraine is under real threat. To date members and friends of the club have contributed £25,000, but unless they are able to raise the remaining £20,000 the very existence of the historic club is under threat.

"The current lack of government support, particularly the unavailability of that made available post coronavirus >COVID, severely limits options to secure the much needed balance of £20,000 required for the expert installation and it is simply out of reach for the members.
