The government website warns people to 'act now'
Over 50 flood warnings are in place in Nottinghamshire as people are told to ‘act now’ as flooding is ‘expected’ as Storm Babet hits the UK with heavy rainfall. As of 8.40am on Saturday, October 21, a total of 57 flood warnings and 27 flood alerts had been issued for rivers in the county.
A flood warning means that flooding is expected, whilst a flood alert means that flooding in the area is possible. With 57 flood warnings, the government website reads: “Flooding is expected in this area. This means properties are at risk of flooding.” "Please take action to protect yourself and your property and monitor local weather and river conditions. Avoid contact with, walking or driving through flood water. Consider activating any property flood protection products you may have."In terms of flood alerts, the govemenent website explained: “Flooding is possible in this area. Monitor local water levels and weather conditions.
“Avoid using low lying footpaths or entering areas prone to flooding. Start acting on your flood plan if you have one.”Full list of flood alerts across Nottinghamshire:
