Wilko collapsed into administration last month and some stores have already shut for good
Another 86 Wilko stores are set to close this week - including five in Yorkshire - after the retailer collapsed into administration in August.
The first 24 shops confirmed for closure pulled down their shutters last Tuesday with the second batch of 28 sites following last Thursday . A further 38 stores closed yesterday - and now another 38 will pull down the shutters tomorrow and a further 48 stores will go on Thursday , reports Mirror.It is anticipated that all Wilko stores will be closed by early October, resulting in more than 9,000 job losses.
Administrators at PwC said they expect online operations to be running again at the beginning of October, and as part of the deal, 36 employees from the Wilko digital team have moved over to The Range. Poundland has also announced it will take on the leases of up to 71 Wilko stores. The discount chain will be rebranding the sites as Poundland stores and will give existing Wilko staff "priority" for jobs once the transaction has been completed.
