Upcoming sports events spur regional planning for alternative ways to reach the entertainment district
Fans wait to enter the ballpark before Game 3 of the American League Championship Series between the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers, Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023, in Arlington, Texas.fans with a World Series ticket, you also know that parking near Globe Life Field does not come cheap. It could easily go over $100 depending on the event. Getting in and out of Arlington’s Entertainment District is another hassle, especially if there are competing events nearby.
North Texans have learned to live with this nuisance. Cowboys and Rangers fans know it, even Swifties know it. But that doesn’t mean there should not be transportation alternatives to get to the entertainment district that also encompasses AT&T Stadium, Choctaw Stadium and Six Flags Over Texas.is taking a look at how people travel to the entertainment district. Some solutions would be tested in the near future, others are long-term.
The regional council requested these buses from the U.S. Department of Transportation, the federal agency working with World Cup cities. The cost of these buses is not finalized yet, Windsor said, but the idea is to loan them to Los Angeles for the 2028 Olympics and eventually incorporate them into either the Trinity Metro or DART.“We want to guarantee that people don’t come with Uber and Lyft and then they can’t get back because of price hikes,” Windsor told us.
